Lillian, the Camp Director

After her husband, Paul, died in 1955, Lillian worked as a school crossing guard during the year. In the summers, she ran a playground for the city of Hackensack. She loved being with the children and she kept very organized records of the activities she did with them.

Over time, she ran playgrounds in Fairmount Park and at the Civic Center.

She received a lot of thank you notes at the end of each summer.

At the end of the summer she would have a fairwell picnic. She always invited the mothers to attend. The pictures below are from 1969.

She received a beautiful letter from the city manager of Hackensack when she was ready to retire.
