Anna and Isadore’s Children

Isadore Rothman and Anna (Chana / Hannah) Levine (Lewin) were married in 1891 in Tuszyn, Poland. They had 4 children in Poland: Otto (Arthur), Freida, Sadie (Ruth) and Jerichen (Paul). They had another child in the United Stated: Rosie (Rosalind).

On Anna’s ship manifest [1], you can see the Yiddish names of the children she travelled with but over time, they switched their names to more American sounding ones.

Anna Rothman's Ship Manifest
  • Uescher became Otto then Arthur
  • Frieda was the only one without a name change. She always remained Frieda
  • Sure Roase became Sadie then Ruth
  • Jerechen became Pinkus then Paul

Click on each one of their names under the “Anna and Isadore’s Children” menu under the Levine button above to learn more about each one of them.

You can also get to the children from the Rothman menu, then go to “Isador and Anna’s Children.”
